Specialized Support for Impact Investors
Oak Branch Advisors provides a range of middle and back office services to foundations in support of their impact investment programs. These portfolios may include Mission-Related Investments (MRIs), Program-Related Investments (PRIs), sustainable and thematic investments. Our comprehensive services for these clients include the modeling of portfolio investments (debt, equity and other instruments), ongoing investment monitoring, compliance services, invoicing, investee communications, and customized reporting. Oak Branch clients include three of the most prominent foundations in the United States.
Common challenges:
- Modeling each constituent investment across a diverse impact portfolio
- Monitoring funding, payments, and compliance across many investees
- Producing tailored reporting at the frequency each foundation requires
- Integrating as an extension of the foundation's middle and back office
Services for Maximum Impact
Investment Onboarding
We review legal documents at onboarding and as each new investment is added, extracting the data needed for ongoing monitoring, including static investee data, key dates, commitment amounts, funding and amortization schedules, and interest, dividend, and fee terms.
Investment Modeling
We model each constituent portfolio investment, including calculations of accruals and payment schedules based on the specific terms and conditions of each investment.
Funding & Payment Monitoring
With read-only access to client bank accounts, we perform reconciliations and report on daily activity such as interest and principal payments, guarantee fees, dividends, and fundings, and we track capital calls, allocating principal payments and interest or fees.
Compliance Monitoring
We track incoming reporting requirements from investees, review documents for compliance, follow up on delinquent reporting, and notify clients of any non-compliance.
Invoicing & Investee Communications
We create and send invoices to investees based on interest calculations and amortization schedules in the legal agreements, and with client consent we handle investee communications, including reminders for missed payments and follow-ups on reporting delinquencies.
Comprehensive Reporting
We deliver reporting packages tailored to each client at the frequency they need (daily, weekly, or monthly), covering trial balances, general ledger account mappings, outstanding balances, commitment levels, loss reserves, cash availability, and bank activity.
An Extension of Your Middle and Back Office
While most foundation clients use a core suite of services, we customize our service model to meet the specific needs of each foundation’s impact program, integrating seamlessly as an extension of their middle and back offices. We also add value through the investees’ audit confirmation process, maintaining up-to-date contact and wire information for invoicing and reporting, and handling ad hoc reporting requests.
